Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 16, 2026
Datavisly is built so that your data stays yours. The short version: every file you open in a Datavisly tool is processed entirely on your own device, inside your browser, and is never uploaded to or stored on any server.
Your files never leave your device
When you open a CSV, a GEBCO .asc grid, a Surfer .grd file, or any other data in a Datavisly tool, that file is read and processed locally using JavaScript running in your browser. It is not transmitted to us or to any third party, it is not saved on a server, and we never see its contents. This is true even for very large, multi-gigabyte grids — they are parsed on your machine and never uploaded.
Because processing is local, anything you create (charts, converted grids, exported SVG or PNG files) is generated on your device and stays there unless you choose to save or share it yourself.
What we do collect
To understand how the site is used and improve it, Datavisly uses Google Analytics. This collects standard, aggregate usage information such as which pages are visited, approximate region, device and browser type, and referring links. It does not include the contents of any file you open in a tool. Google may set cookies in your browser as part of this; you can read more in Google’s privacy policy.
You can block this with most ad/tracker blockers or your browser’s privacy settings, and the tools will continue to work normally.
What we don’t do
- We do not upload, store, or transmit the files you open.
- We do not require an account, email address, or sign-up.
- We do not sell or share your personal data.
- We do not show ads or use advertising-tracking beyond the basic analytics described above.
Local browser storage
Some tools may use your browser’s local storage to remember settings or temporarily hold a project while you work. This data lives in your browser, on your device, and is not sent to us. You can clear it at any time through your browser.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the “last updated” date above will change with it. The core promise — that your files are processed locally and never uploaded — is fundamental to how Datavisly is built and is not going to change.
